HELP! Best laptops around for under £500.

Solution
Hello,

The system you picked out is pretty nice. Processor is new and one of the top in the i5 ultra low voltage class, honestly even skimming around, I cannot find a laptop with a better processor under £500, plus it's a Quad-core - this will aid in some simple editing and everything else you wish to achieve (HD movies, browsing web etc...).

Alternatively, the 8GB's of RAM is good to see and the on-board graphics is comparable to an Geforce 920M - Sticking to the older and less demanding games, you should be able to get some decent performance.

Finally, Full HD display is a nice touch, but also expected, along with 128GB's which is sort of expected from the budget, but if you use cloud storage or external HDD effectively, then you...

If you have some extra pennies laying around, it might be worth considering:

LENOVO Ideapad IP320s:
https://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lenovo-ideapad-ip320s-14ikb-14-laptop-grey-10169399-pdt.html

Comes packed with a good i7-8550u processor (Quad-core and slightly higher base clock speed) and benefiting from 256GB's of solid state storage instead of 128GB's

However, if you're stuck to a firm budget, then the laptop you have picked out is the best I have seen available at that price point.

Many thanks,
SM

Snow White? Really?

OK, seriously, the £480 Lenovo is a decent machine, but 128GBs of storage will be gone within a few months. If Seaweed Monster's suggested Lenovo is too expensive, at £600, then perhaps a £50 1TB external HDD is a bit more realistic, like this one:
