Help; buying a laptop for animation and design work

I am going to University next year, and I will be using software like Maya, Photoshop, Sibelius, Illustrator, etc.
I also use Microsoft word a lot (I don't know where that would come in but I thought I might as well mention it.)
I am not yet sure about the budget but nothing too expensive, please!
Another consideration is that it also needs to be portable.

I was wondering if you could also give me feedback on these laptops (in relation to my specifications);

I'm not sure yet. I'd say everything from cheap to middle/high middle of the medium price range. That's probably not very helpful, though, sorry.

I'm looking for quality over cheapness, though - saying that, I could never afford top-end stuff.

If you wouldn't mind recommending what you think are the best, and why, I'll go through and edit out the too expensive ones.

Hi,
We are also looking to get a couple laptops, so we can travel with our work more easily and thinking of getting a second screen to hook up with the laptop. is there something specific i need to look out for for hooking up a second screen that will work with the laptop? thanks a bunch!
