Help buying TV!!!

If u buy a smart tv,but don't use my cable box and just my coax cord with regular 70 channels, will they still be in 1080p?( The tv is full HD)

That depends on if the TV has a QAM tuner and whether the channels are in HD. High Def on cable and over the air is mostly 1080i (not 1080p) with a few channels in 720p. 1080p is only from Bluray discs (or files copied from them).

So your saying if the channel itself could could do it, the tv just, just plugged in the wall with cable whou automaticaly display it the best as possible without any additional things? Hers the tv btw.

Correct, every new TV has a digital tuner built in. If the game is in 1080i then your TV will show it in 1080i. In fact, that TV is going to show action scenes with much better clarity since it is 120 Hz. A typical TV is only 60 Hz. I have a 120 Hz TV because it is 3D and sports looks awesome on it. You will notice a dramatic improvement especially when the camera is panning left and right quickly. On a 60 Hz TV it will be a bit blurry due to a lower refresh rate (and thus frame rate), but on a 120 Hz TV it is sharp almost like you are there. From the Sears website:

Ok thanks. My mom had a rca that was 720p, but displayed in 420i. She didn't use her box so I guess it didn't have the built in tuner right? So what about my xbox? Do I need a HDMI cable to show every thing the smart tv can do with quality or will the normal red yellow and white do the trick?

For xbox, you will need either HDMI or one of these cables. HDMI cables have gone down in price quite a bit. You shouldn't spend more than $10 on one. I actually got a few from newegg for free after a rebate. Something like this $5 cable should do just fine. Or, any of these are fine, just don't overpay. There is no special HDMI cable for the 360. They are all identical. Also, one isn't better than the other. There are different versions such as 1.0, 1.4 and 2.0, but as far as quality of picture from one brand to another they are all the same. This is because a digital signal either works or it doesn't; there is no clear or fuzzy. You should be fine as long as it is at least version 1.4.

No, they will look the same. The box is mainly for the channel menu, DVR and ordering pay-per-view. Other than that, it is the same signal that the TV by itself uses.
