Looking to purchase this house and the previous owner already has most of the basement finished. In the pic in the link, what are the blue cables? And is the black cable with no end a coax? If the pic doesn't show, copy/paste the link.

Blue cables are Cat 5.

Black cable without fitting on the end is very likely coax, but would have to see the actual end of the cable to know for certain.

Not fibre. Fibre is very thin; usually under 1mm (unless there's a super thick plastic jacket like overpriced audio cables). Also, it's always terminated by either the factory or someone with a few thousand dollars of gear (i.e. your ISP). Homeowners can't do it.

It's most likely coax for the unterminated black cable, and Cat5e or similar for the blue ones.

Um I had a fiber connection when I lived in nebraska and it looked like large coax then at the termination end it was a fiber plug which i hooked up myself and then remove my self to turn in the equipment when we moved thats why I said would have to see what it looks like(a picture). Don't just dismiss an idea because you havn't seen it before.Ive also worked in buildings where telecom rooms were moved and the fiber was just cut off and a piece of tape put over the end. Of course ive seen this with copper also very messy and if done live blows the crap out of stuff

I have a fibre connection. It's thin.

You're thinking of a coax connection from the fibre ONT box to a standard cable router.

Also, your ISP will get upset if you unplug or cut a fibre connection - dust is a major issue and seriously impacts performance. They typically need to send someone out to re-terminate.

No I am not stop telling me what I am thinking. The main fiber feed into the house was a thick coax looking cable that was then stripped back to show the thin fiber inside. I have cut polished and spliced fiber before when I was in the military in a com group so I know what I am talking about. And no they did not get up set when I unplugged the fiber I just recapped it They even asked me if I was comfortable doing it. All I was saying is you can't just dismiss something because you havn't seen it done before. I image there is a lot of things that get done that most people have not seen doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Stilln have not received another post from the original poster so who knows could be something totally different.
