Hi everyone,

I am looking for a laptop for my girlfriend. She will use it mostly for web browsing, facebook, skype, photos and movies. She will not play demanding video games, 3GB Ram will be more than enough for her but my doubts are about the cpu. Intel Celeron B830 1.80GHz vs Intel Pentium Dual-Core B960 2.20GHz vs Intel Core i3-2350M 2.30GHz. Is the celeron enough for web browsing? Is it going to lag once you have 10 different tabs open? How about the Pentium Dual-Core for that matter? Should I choose a laptop with an i3 cpu? Is it going to be necessary?

Here is an idea:

1- ASUS X501A-XX293 White 4GB - $430

15,6 inch display
Intel Celeron B830 1.80GHz
4GB DDR3 1333MHz
500GB, 5400, SATA

Get her the Intel i3 2350m laptop... if u don't get here that then get her the pentium.. the Celeron will be ok for a year or so but then the laptop will just bog down... laptop cpu's degrade in performance faster than desktop cpu's

Hi. Can anyone tell me if a 24GB SSD is enough for windows 8? Considering of course that it's healthy to have 20% of the driver free. The space requirements for windows 8 are - 16 GB (32-bit) and 20 GB (64-bit). But I suppose SSDs are like HDDs and it is not really 24GB of space that you will get but less.. and considering you have to have additional 20% free.. does that make the 24GB SSD useless if you want to have windows 8 on it?

Thanks,
Nick

Yeah like I said 24GB might be a bit too less. But when they say the minimum you need is 16GB (32-bit) and 20GB (64-bit), it just means that is the recommended disk space you should have free. That doesn't mean the OS will actually use up all that 20 GB.

We know the requirements for Windows 7 are the same. When I installed the 64-bit version (clean install) only 7GB of my C drive was used for the OS after installation. So you don't need to think windows 8 will gobble up 20GB of your space. It will use much less.
