Hi,

I am looking for a laptop to replace the desktop I just sold which use to be in my office (now a baby room). The desktop was only used 2-3 times per week for internet browsing, the odd video (streaming/DVD), word processing and doing banking/finance. I am hoping to keep it under $600 Canadian before taxes but would like the laptop to last several years before having to replace it.

My wife would really like to have a 17" laptop so I thought the ASUS X751MA 17.3" would be a good compromise but I am not sure if the Intel Bay Trail-M processor are any good.

- HP 15.6" Touchscreen (AMD A6-5200 APU / 750GB HDD / 6GB RAM) - Model: 15-F048CA ($529.99)
- ASUS 17.3" X751MA (Intel Bay Trail-M N3540 / 750GB HDD / 8GB RAM) - Model: X751MA-BH91-CB ($549.99)
- Lenovo 15.6" Flex 2 15D (AMD A8-6410 processor / 1TB HDD / 8GB RAM) - Model: 59424917 ($579.96)

I appreciate your feedback and I am open to suggestion.

The Intel N3540 is a fairly new processor that is about the same processing power as the AMD A6-5200 while utilizing less energy. All three laptops are great for what you want to do (Common work/Multimedia system) with the Lenovo 15.6's A8-6410 out performing the other two insignificantly. Fell comfortable that the ASUS X751MA 17.3 will perform as strong as the other two you mentioned.

Hint: To compare the processors' performance, knowing the model of your processor, use CPU boss to compare them in a fun and painless way.
