Help new smart TV has no sound!

Six year old LG sound went out suddenly, finally bought new smart TV, tried to kook it up and we have picture, but no sound! We do not have HD Cable box, thought we could get what we needed after Christmas, so I do not have HDMI cable or box. Anyone know why we have no sound?! Help, obviously not tech savvy, thanks for any help.

If you have connected an SD cable box make sure that you have connected the audio cables to the same input as the video is connected.
