Help please!!! Panasonic NV-GS400 "PUSH THE RESET SWITCH"

Greetings to all!

I have a problem with my Panasonic NV-GS400 miniDV camcorder. It's no secret that miniDV camcorders are all ancient history by now and the industry's been taken over by HD a while back, so probably few people still have these. I used mine to film skateboarding (because it's arguably the best format and quality) and I need it for a similar task now.

The problem is that the mechanism used to eject the tape is somehow faulty and I believe that it is causing the "push the reset switch" message to appear. I'm not sure if a tape is stuck inside (doesn't even matter), because I remember getting one out a while ago only to meet the same problem again. I've been searching online to find a solution and the best I could come up with is that Panasonic made these "errors" on purpose and that I shouldn't buy Panasonic camcorders. It's a little late for that now. I've tried connecting the cam to direct input (without battery) and there's a slight difference in the sound that the cartridge (or whatever it's called) makes while trying to eject the tape. It just starts off normally and then you can hear it stop at some point of trying to eject and then the same thing happens all over again in a loop.

I'd really appreciate it if you would at least share some of your similar experiences, not to mention if you could help me really solve this problem.

Cheers,
Toni!

Hello!
Thanks for replying so fast. I have tried pressing the reset switch a few times already with no luck. Do you by any chance know any other solutions?
Thank you.

I wish I did. These type of issues are not common to just Panasonic. I've had tape mechanism issues with Sony camcorders. The difference being it would constantly eject a tape. But nothing I learned from that will help you as the issue is different.

Just out of curiosity was the camcorder on or off when you pressed the reset button? Was the reset attempted while on battery power or while connect to a power outlet?
