HELP! Somehow almost 800pix disappeard from my android gallery

AGH!!! I had almost 800 pictures on my gallery on my samsung galaxy s3. I think I downloaded a bad app or something, because magically, almost an entire album on my phone (it was saved on phone, not sd card) is gone. poof! I am so upset, I now have a backup set up, but how do I get back the ones lost? Is it even possible?
