Help Wanted Laptop

does uninstalling unnecessary programs [strike]increase[/strike] improve start-up time and performance of the laptop (Lenovo-Y50). i am not necessarily looking to game on this laptop anymore but i am looking to increase performance. The only heavy programs that i use on a daily basics is Autocad 2015.

To improve start-up time, disable any unnecessary start-up items.
Alternatively, consider putting laptop in sleep mode instead of shutting it down.

To improve performance, install more RAM if possible.

Uninstalling software won't improve either of the above unless the system partition is getting critically low on free space.

I have 16gb of ram ,and im not in desperate need of free space. How do i disable the unnecessary startup programs?
