Help with a subwoofer

I have a the m audio av42 and wanted to get an inexpensive sub as i am a 'bass head'. I have also heard about amps but not sure weather it's needed or which ones to get.

I'm looking at the wharfedale sw150 and it looks quite good but not sure kn connections

That sub has a built-in amplifier. You can run RCA type inputs or you can run speaker cable type inputs. It will depend on what options are available on your signal source.
