Help with new laptop purchase

I'm just after some advice on a new laptop which will primarily be used for uni work and the occasional game of football manager! ;-) I'm not clued up on the latest technology so I'm pretty clueless as to what I should be looking for.
We have found which seems to be a couple of great deals from Costco.

Toshiba L855-188 15.6 inch Notebook, Ice Blue Brushed Aluminium

They both seem to be a good price compared to else where.
If anyone could help us out in making a decision it would be much appreciated.

Hi, don't get a toshiba, they have a high failure rate within 2 years of regular usage.
I recommend an Asus, dell (3 year warranty included) or a msi.

Between the 2 choice above, I would get the samsung

They both come with a 2 year warranty.

The toshiba has i7 whereas the samsung has i5. Is there a big difference?
