Hi! I need a laptop that can handle heavy music production & video rendering
as well as a bit of gaming every now and then.
Budget: £500-800 GBP
I had a Toshiba Satellite S55-A5274:
Price: $799 USD (American bought)
CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 3rd Gen 3337U (1.80-2.70GHz)
GPU: 2GB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 740M
RAM: 6GB
Storage: 750GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD
Operating System: Windows 8/8.1 x64
Screen Size: 15.6" - Screen Res: 1366x768
Battery Life: 4HRish (depending)
which exceeded my expectations in almost every way for a good 2 years or so
until it started refusing to start up due to a Graphics chipset failure.
I was able to run quite heavy track production or play intensive MMOs
on this laptop while having a good 40+ chrome tabs open & music/videos
playing and it would just barely flinch, which is surprising for the specs.
Although once I started getting serious with music production,
it just wasn't good enough for my workloads.
Anyway I've been looking about for a new laptop that will hopefully exceed
my expectations (or at least live up to them for the price)
for the past couple of days and here's the main one I've been looking into:
Dell Inspirion 15 5000:
Price: £799 GBP
CPU: 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-7500U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)
GPU: AMD Radeon™ R7 M445 Graphics 4G GDDR5
RAM: 16GB Single Channel DDR4 2400MHz, up to 16GB
Storage: 2TB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
Operating System: Windows 10 Home x64
Screen Size: 15.6" - Screen Res: 1920x1080
This choice seems to be almost perfect specs-wise for my needs
but it's right at the top of my spending limit. + Wtf Dell no cool LEDs?
I've also looked into:
ASUS VivoBook X556UA
Lenovo IdeaPad 510 15
Any info/reviews on my finds/recommendations are extremely welcome, thanks a bunch in advance.
