help with picking headphones

so, i think I'm becoming somewhat of an "audiophile" lately, and i would like to know if i should get new headphones. i have a Bose SoundTrue around the ear headphones that i got for my birthday, which i think are pretty decent. i dont really know though since these are the first headphones i have owned.however, i have heard that Bose headphones arent that good and over priced (is that true?), so is it worth it to get new headphones? will there be a noticeable difference? if it is worth it my max budget on my headphones should stay around $150ish (is that a good budget?). i would preferably have black, not too flashy headphones from trusted manufacturers.

Bose are pretty darn good mate. I also use Senal Studio Monitor for field mixing, very comfortable, lovely sound and changeable ear-pads. Sennheiser also good though those are my stand-by pair and ear-pads have worn out, flaking away. Common problem. Just stay away from Beats and you'll be fine

bose are overpriced for what you get.. by at least double.

i've owned a pair of bose in the past and i thought they sounded great too... until i was introduced to other brands.

many of your decent choices fall into the $130-180 range so $150 +/- is right on target.

look at my headphone guide.. specifically "types of headphones" and open vs closed.

also list your sound profiel that you enjoy (ie heavy bass, more highs not much bass, neutral, more highs and lows recessed mids...)

you might also want to search the forum for "ssddx headphone headset" and read some of my other posts on the issue.

what is good for you depends on what your expectations and likes are.
