Help with Sennheiser hd 598 and Turtle Beach DSS2 Dolby Surround Sound Processor

I am going to buy this DSS 2 will this work?

Will this setup work and/or make a difference?


Also if you know of a better way to make these hd 598s sound better with my ps4 suggestions would be awesome! I dont care about a mic if that makes a difference

It depends on what you listen to.
If you are looking for surround sound effects for movies and games then the DSS2 should work for you.
If you are looking for higher quality two channel music reproduction then a DAC - Headphone amp (combo or separate) would give you a bigger improvement IMO.
In either case a better headphone amp than the one built into the DSS2 could be used to further improve the sound by driving the headphones better.

Ok so i have HyperX Cloud 2 headset and DSS2 on PS4 and sound quality seems loud and clear. If i wanted to add Amp to this setup and retain surround sound of DSS2 how would i go about it.

The optical out from PS4 plugs into back of DSS2 and the headset into the front headset jack on DSS2 with mic plugged into USB soundcard, where would the additional Amp fit into this setup?
