Well, to be honest, that 2600 DOOM hoax in 1995 or so was pretty damn
funny.

Why not a real 2600 DOOM? or Colecovision Morrowind?

Even if it was horrible in terms of graphics? The coleco could do 32
sprites at a time, large enough to make a monster to fill the entire
screen! :)

Doubtful the 2600 has the power to do a 3D real time view and still
display decent number of colors to separate sections of walls. Let
alone various enemies. Wolfenstien 3D clone maybe (Skeleton is one
close example) but Doom is immersed in too much of 3D enviroment for a
pokey CPU that spends over 80% of its power to video to handle. Doom
on 7800 is a possibility though.

Seriously, the only 1st person maze game I've seen on the 2600 that
could resemble Wolfenstein 3D is Tunner Runner...but it'll only be done
with solid color walls and nothing else on them. But it's possible...

Since Morrowwind is so deep, you can either do an 8-bit version as
either Ultima style or just stick to dungeon crawling as in that one
D&D game on the Intellivision.

Just don't say you're porting an Xbox game to an old system that hasn't
enough memory to hold e-mail... ;)

Anyone ever hack Tunnel Runner? Seems like you could do something with that
and make it almost kinda sorta look like something doom-ish. *shrug*

*phear the creepy music in that game*

Toe. (out of the loop with all the 2600 Doom chit chat)

It can happen though. Remember the Supercharger. Added 2K RAM and
support to multiload game segments so theorically you could build a
huge game like Zelda that would work on 2600. it's a matter of time
before someone comes along and proves this theory. (and getting around
Nintendo's copyright lawyer if someone's doing classic Zelda clone)

Probably not. But if you simply replace everything is large squares, and
you use your imagination, it's just like playing it on top-of-the-line
PC! ;-)
