Hello,

A receiver is absolutely the best option here if you don't want to deal with additional cables. Generally you want to stick to HDMI. 699 is a lot to spend for a receiver judging by your setup, but some cheaper models break easily so you might as well.

From there, all you do is connect HDMI from your devices directly to the receiver's INPUTS. There's an OUTPUT, which you want between your TV and Receiver. Your speakers also go into the receiver, watch a simple tutorial here on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zFs8uSZsCc

Also, sometimes (happens too often), manufacturers don't really list true specs of amps and speakers, so I would educate myself on matching speakers with amps if you want to select a different model...

Here u go

LG TV - LF650T

DVD - Pioneer HTZ-424

HD box with the following connectivity options
1 HDMI (1.3)
1 Mini 3.5mm Plug to RCA Video/Audio
1 Optical output (5.1)
1 Ethernet
1 USB 2.0 port

I also plan to add a PS4 to the mix .... Any recommendations for the receiver (I'm asking specifically in terms of compatibility issues) e.g. if I opt for the Denon AVR-X3000 or will a simpler more cheaper Denon model work?

Thanks for the help in advance :)

Though as long as you don't increase the volume too high you SHOULD be fine.

That's about it, pretty straight forward. If there's anything else, just ask. :)
