Which set up is considered better in terms of music quality (mostly through CDs playback); a soundbar (around 250$) along with Sony's UBPX700 4k player or a mini hifi system, like PANASONIC SC-UX100E-K or LG CM2760?

Solution
The only soundbars I know are for music are the Sonos and Denon Heos. A receiver or amp plus speakers will still be better.

Speakers are always a matter of taste so listening for yourself is the only sure way to know what;s right for you. Visit a store with some of your own music and use your own ears to decide.
If you are open to used equipment you will get better sound for...

Soundbar has never been good for music except for those like Nubert Nupro AS-250.

Mini systems are also never that good for music. They just make sounds, that is all.

Every solution is not perfect but perfect for certain conditions and limitation.
We do not know how much are you willing to pay for the system and how much space you have at home.
We also do not know, if you plan to use the system for pure music or do you want to use it for movies too.
Where you are coming from is also important.
Thus it is almost impossible for us to give any good suggestion.

If you can afford, and have space for, a proper hifi amplifier and some decent speakers, that will always be best. I'm not familiar with the US market but in the UK we have a chain of shops where you can go listen to different speakers and decide which you like best. If you can possibly do that, that would be best.

First, I come from Greece, and my bugdet is max 300 euros (almost 350$). My space is not big, roughly a small apartment. I mostly care about music and this is my first priority. The reason I state the soundbar as an option as well, is because I also have in mind to purchase this 4k player. So, I thought, since I will have a device to play my CDs (the player), why not to invest in speakers, rather than a mini hifi system. Because my space is fairly limited, I came across the sounbars as a solution (I do have space for two large speakers though). However, I don't care about having a better sound with movies.

Constraints:
- tight space.
- €300

Bonus usage:
- watch movies and TV programs

hmmm....
For €300 price range and tight space.
For the price range up to €300, you can not ask much actually. I would even go lower if I have to.
I would also still take your TV space in your room into account,
Forget those mini hifi, they do not sound that good on that that price range.

How about :

From those options, there are still pros and cons of each.

IF you want the sound to be really good, I would rather spend more and get something like e.g.
2x Nubert NuPro A100 = 2x€285
https://www.nubert.de/nupro-a-100/p1361/?category=218
or
1x Nubert NuPro AS-250 = €585
https://www.nubert.de/nupro-as-250/p1787/?category=218

Or getting a simple system with:
Denon Denon PMA 720 = €229
Some decent pair of speakers for about €200-300

Yup! hunting second-handed items are also recommended.
e.g. I got Technics SU-VZ 220 from eBay 4 years ago for only €70.
This amplifier sounds really good.

But none of them accept CDs. Should I connect them to the 4k player? If not, some (like Nupert A100) require an amplifier, don't they?

That 4k blue-ray player, if it can play audio cds, you can use it too.
You can also simply look for decent cd-players but if your room is limited and you have a TV, etc. too, I would rather use a blue-ray or dvd player as cd player.

Those Nubert NuPro serie speakers I posted are all active speakersa.k.a. you do not need amplifier.

This is a great question! This could be a great article if you wanted to expand. I'm new, and I have a follow-up so bear with me. I'm mid-50's in age, so I grew up with good quality hi-fi systems. As time marched on and the kids came I had less time for listening at home, it was always on the run aka iPod. So now I'm getting back to being a homebody, I often wondered if home hifi's still made sense? I've got a 55" LED TV with a Samsung AH68-02930A sound bar, because as a family we enjoy watching movies. Still, when it's just the wife and I and because we've ripped most of our CD collection into iTunes, we bluetooth stream to the soundbar to fill the room with music. So, my question is - hifi or something else? I would love to link a hifi quality system so I could play music when entertaining through out the house (and backyard during the summer), but does that make sense since all the music has been ripped into iTunes (let's face it, when I buy music, it's now through iTunes or steaming from Spotify)? Budget wise I'd invest $1500 -$2000 for a system and we're talking a 2000 sq ft home in NJ. I welcome everyone's feedback

This is a great question indeed.
I use my hi-fi system for both music and movies. I love music and what has worked for me is research and then buying used from audiophiles that are upgrading. Forums on Audiogon and (for me) Canuck AudioMart taught me how to put together a great sounding system on a budget.
Most suggestions made previously like the Elac speakers are good, I'd look at the Emotiva TA-100 or NAD, Cambridge, Onkyo if you need to purchase new equipment.
Taking some time and finding used higher end equipment is really rewarding too.

How good is the music quality through the soundbar?

I guess that the hifi equipment that you use isn't such a cheap solution as the ones I mentioned in the post, right?
