hmdi from tablet to tv

I have a tablet and TV both hmdi ready.. Hmdi connector is placed in on tv and tablet..and tablet has appropriate settings.. But the TV goes from a blue no signal screen to just a black screen .. How can this be fixed?

Does your Tablet come up with a message saying it is using a alternate Display or something? Some TV are picky on Cables a well that can be a issue.

TV sounds like it is in waiting and Timed out. What does the Tablet do, anything? If possible try another cable btw.

What is the make and model of the TV and Tablet?

Try switching the input to an active HDMI input and back to the tablet. What sometimes happens is that if you switch the TV input to the tablet it takes a second or two for the tablet to switch on its output and this takes long enough that the TV can't detect it. If you switch back & forth quickly the tablet doesn't have time to detect the connection being terminated and it give the TV a chance to "handshake" with it. Same thing happens on a laptop in my experience.
