Home theater plans?

I'm having a home built, and will be converting a room specifically for
use with my HDTV as a home theater. Anybody know of a good resource, web
or book, that gives directions for wiring up a home theater, especially the
surround sound? I checked avs forum and on the web, and while there are
plenty of comments about speakers, 5.1 vs 6.1, etc., I haven't been able to
find plans or directions (place speaker here, use this kind of wire, use a
plastic gang box, etc.)

(I could use the same info for a home distributed-audio system as well)

Here's a diagram of a generic Dolby Digital 5.1 setup:

You can learn a ton of information on this site:

The best thing I can tell you is to really watch out for speaker cable
scams. Deceptive marketing of speaker cable is right up there with
snake oil weight loss drugs like Cortislim. These two links might save
you a lot of money:

Don't lose sight of the room itself ... the acoustic properties are as
important if not more important than the quality/placement of the
speakers.
