[citation][nom]otacon72[/nom]NEGATIVE....flying on an airplane is a privilege NOT a right guaranteed under the constitution. If you don't want to be scanned then don't fly! I am so sick of these ACLU funboys. I would LOVE to see you go through Israeli airport security..lmao. They don't give a shit about your rights.[/citation]
That's right. Isreal doesn't give a shit about anyone's rights. And they scream anti-semitism if it's pointed out to them. Pointing them out as an example of how airports should be run isn't very intelligent.

Wow! And was thinking to go with my uncle for a holiday! I think I'll just tell him NOT to go.

The end of Israel will be by their own hands.. They have only "angered" Allah.

The person that caused all of this fuss boarded a plane in Amsterdam... So is the US going to give every country that flies to the US one of these devices and insist that they use it? I think not. I fail to see how this 'solution' is really going to solve a 'problem', unless the 'problem' is tourists that will now not visit the US due to the ever more draconian requirements to get on a US bound flight, or the ever more draconian 'security procedures' involved in returning home. How many laptops do I have to have 'confiscated' by the TSA for 'checking'? (Never returned, btw...)

I used to enjoy holidaying in Hawaii, but no more. Next holiday will probably be to the south of France. Nicer people, better climate, and good wines.

The US can barricade itself behind walls, for all I care, and live out your wee paranoid fantasies. Don't forget to maintain your belief that 'the US is the best nation in the world' fantasy while you are at it.

They even say they had info on this nut case & still they DID NOT ACT!
The feds need to get up off their plush office chairs & do some real field work. Instead of taking the blame, Our freedom will be smashed into nothing ( just waiting for some new Bill to be signed into law) due to lazy police work. Better yet; why not just have everyone board the plane naked. That way they can't possibly miss any terrorists...

I remember seeing these a few months ago. I remember saying if a terrorist attacks again, these would come up as the 'new solution'. I do hate being right some times. I seriously hate these machines.

I have no objections to this level of intrusuion I mean really have you looked at those pictures?
On the other hand though the line has to be drawn somewhere unless we intend to eventually subject all passengers to an intimate body cavity search :/

I think that in this case the privacy concerns are much to do about nothing. Put the monitors in another room. If the security personal in that room cannot see the faces of the subjects, than there is nothing to be embarrassed of. If there is something to be concerned of the can alert the TSA personal at the scanner, first through a general body diagram marked with the points of interest and if necessary with the actual body scan image.

Seems strange to me, I am not American and so it hardly concerns me, but according to this report, they are using these in 19 airports in the USA, and only 6 of those are being used as initial screening devices, Do homeland security have fore knowledge on which airports a terrorist will use and the others are safe?

Your rights will be continually eroded, your basic freedoms which you take for granted will all be stripped away in the name of national security, they just continually build fear until you surrender every freedom you have and completely give all of your life to the state.

Answer this simple question, how many terrorists have been caught by these body scanners so far? The answer is a whopping great 0 :) guess you need them on every street corner soon then.

hey Kevin Parrish...you're pretty stupid huh!..pretending to be a terrorist?...how about a 747 rain your mom's body parts on someones lawn..then come back and talk 'pretend' again...you must be a liberal with no job and a closet full of handout governement cheese and your children being pimped for tax deductions.

One step at a time...

One day you wake up without any freedom at all in the name of justice - chained against a wall.. don't forget you could one day become a terrorist so the "threat" have to be eliminated before it even arises!

Everything is getting out of hand now...not only would we be losing our freedom but some idiot is going to come up with another unique way to sneak a weapon on.

I would rather not sacrifice my freedom if these things will just continue to happen.

And I firmly believe that the majority of passengers, air marshal and average joe alike, would help in a desperate situation such as their lives and others being put into danger.

We are already giving away our freedom for government health insurance. Once we are all tagged we're government property. They will tell us what we can and cannot eat and/or do EX: Smoking, fatty foods. The liberals love to scream stay out of my bed room, yet want government everywhere including the examination room. If they can decide when enough is enough expense wise for medicine and care are you really a free person? Health care is not a right! If you don't have a right to be fed, how can you say you have a right to health care? Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Those are rights we currently have... for now. Government health insurance encroaches on your right to life, if a bureaucrat decides when to pull your plug and it will be illegal to pay for care outside of their system. So many people busy looking for a free lunch are failing to read the menu (Sheet on a shingle) but jump at the low price. See how well the government hadles this bomber situation. They guys FATHER! calls and reports him to the American embassy and they couldn't connect the dots. This approach should work real well in the medical field.

[citation][nom]thackstonns[/nom]So by that arguement you should allow me to place camera's in your home, cause then I could make sure you werent building a bomb in your bedroom. Or better yet the womens locker room at the local health club, because you know I think they are planning something fishy. Seems like they might be getting in shape to overthrow someone. Its people like you that are killing this country. Give me liberty or give me death.[/citation]

Wow...the classic straw man argument. Glenn Beck style and all.

Can someone please explain:

A) How an x-ray image is a "violation of rights", but getting patted down isn't? Can the x-ray machine accidentally run its hand over your privates?

B) Why is this an invasion of privacy? You are IN PUBLIC. There is no privacy. You are subject to parusal and observation and critical thought by everyone who looks at you. Don't fool yourself. Someone is estimating and judging you every second in public places.

C) Why are we Americans so hung up on letting security do their jobs?

I've wished for years now that we'd get security like they have in Israeli airports. Armed military with dogs, signs all over stating that if you're in the airport confines, you must submit to search at any time, etc.

I'd rather strip to my underwear for a search than get blown up.

Think about that for a minute. Rather be dead? Or get a harmless burst of x-rays that will ensure you get to your destination and see your family and/or friends?

Just ponder that, America.

The problem is that you can bet that measures of this sort can be readily defeated. I would certainly hope that our own CIA operatives are trained to get lethal materials past any screening even remotely likely to be found at a commercial airport (including Israeli).
This is nothing but a "feel-good" approach by the parasites to make themselves feel useful and necessary. Once again, I highly recommend the late Michael Crichton's novel "State of Fear."

You like Israeli security so much, go live in Israel. Great country I hear: they still have mandatory military service (read: draft), officially sanctioned religious discrimination, and state-run media. Or didn't you know that?

I find it funny that this guy tried this and all of a sudden we're about to spend billions on these new full-body scanners which just so happened to have been created recently. If anyone else doesn't find the timing fishy (especially since these things would NOT have prevented this, since he went through security in NIGERIA) then they're living in a dream world.

THose who would give up liberty for security deserve neither (yes I'm paraphrasing). Those who would give up liberty for a false sense of security deserve a fate worse than death, especially since they're helping to take away OUR liberties too.

[citation][nom]Uncle Sam[/nom]...blah blah blah about healthcare[/citation]

What exactly does new healthcare regulation have to do with the government sticking it's collective noses in our lives (and our clothing) through the TSA?

[citation][nom]siman[/nom]I'm going to laugh at this when I get a thumbs down but whatever. But that one in a million chance cost thousands of peoples lives on 9/11 and millions of affected lives around the world. If you cant take it seriously then just don't fly and take a train or a bus. This nation is really sad when we already have forgotten 9/11, the people that work around the clock to protect and serve, or the people that have given their lives to the cause. The world is evolving and its becoming more hostile we need to accept this fact and get over it. So what if the machine scans you nothing different than taking a shower at the gym... pulse if your not guilty what do you have to worry about...?[/citation]

Im sorry what does 9/11 have to do with this? this wouldnt have stopped 9/11 at all. this wouldnt have stopped what happened on this plane at all. They and people like you who share this opinion are just using it as a excuse to continualy strip people of thier rights and privacy for no reason other then you THINK its going to help. Flying might not be a right but my privacy is so heres a middle finger to everyone here who thinks i should give it up ,,|,,
