Solved! Hooking up pc to home theater system

So I just built a pc and I’m trying to play sound and video through my receiver, sound is coming out through the main two speakers but not the surround sound speakers or subs. I connected through hdmi, going pc->receiver-> monitor. Can someone please help

I am having the exact same problem. in AMD High def audio device properties it says only 2 channels are supported............

When you set up the AVR all the channels worked with the test signals?
Assuming you are connecting the PC to the AVR with HDMI then check your PC audio control (or the video card may have these settings on it) to make sure you are sending in surround sound.
Check that the content is encoded in surround sound and that the player or app is set that way too.
Check the surround mode of the receiver.
