how can I get the best audio quality from my home theatre to PC

I am having sony DAV-TZ145 home theatre. If I use VGA to hdmi cable, will it be of any use or I should use anything else . PLEASE HELPPPP

VGA does not carry audio? You'll get best audio withbegbUSB audio card with optical audio put, if your HT has audio input.

Analog stereo audio is the only input you have on the Sony HTS so just connect the lime green audio output of your PC and set it for 2.0 output. Select a surround mode like Dolby Prologic on the Sony.
The VGA to HDMI converter will take care of the video. You might consider a video card or USB HDMI converter instead. Might not cost more.
