how can I open my DVD on a dead Toshiba L775 laptop?

1.Manually opening a tray-load drive to retrieve a disc
- Look for the small hole on the faceplate of the drive. This is the manual release hole. The location of the manual release hole will vary.
- Straighten a paper clip to use in this step:
_Press in gently on the paper clip until the tray is released.
_Releasing the lock will allow the tray to open a small distance.
_Remove the paper clip and gently pull out the drawer until the disc is accessible.
_Remove the disc from the tray.

2. You can also remove the DVD drive all together from the laptop by removing the one screw at bottom of the laptop that is securing it , then connect it to a power source through it's MINI-SATA power connector then just push the eject button and release the DVD rom,.

Question from beezle999 : "Toshiba L775 laptop DVD player worked until yesterday, now it doesn't seem to exist."

I restored to about a month ago in hopes of fixing it, but no luck. The laptop does not 'see' it. tried d/ling driver(s), but was told d/l failed hmmm...
