How Do I Buy an iPhone?

I'm on my dad's family plan and we've been att customers for years. My old phone is dying on me and I'm due for an upgrade so I'm planning on getting the new iphone when it comes out since I've never had one.

So how exactly do I go about getting one? Do I buy it from Apple or att? I can only get a discounted price if I get it from att right? I see that you can order it online; do you have to set up your new cell plan right then and there or do they send you the phone and you take it to att?

The easiest way is to go to an AT&T store. As them if you qualify to upgrade your phone. Give them your phone number and they will look up your account. I don't have any experience with AT&T, but Sprint and Verizon allows you to upgrade your phone after 21 months. You can buy the phone at whatever the price is for a two year contract and you will most likely get some type of "customer loyalty" discount; like maybe another $50 off.
