How do I hook up my Emerson colby dvd player to a Emerson colby tv . With the red yellow and white rca cables plz help

You can't get an exact answer without the model number of the TV.
If the TV has a shared component-composite video input you would use that. Check the TV manual on how to connect the DVD to it and set the TV to composite.
If the TV only has HDMI inputs then your options would be to get new disc player with HDMI out or an active composite video audio to HDMI converter. A passive cable won't work.
