How do I hook up my laptop to my Xbox One with HDMI?

That is to switch between the laptop's display and an external display. Very few laptops would have a video input. They are usually outputs.

Not to mention, snowctrl asked the original poster the wrong question in the first place.

to connect your laptop to your xbox with hdmi all you have to do is plug it in to the HDMI in on the xbox and the HDMI port on your laptop. then choose TV it will trick your xbox into thinking that your laptop is a cable box.

Note: this also works for other consoles that connect via HDMI such as a 360, PS3, PS4, and WII U.

Did I misunderstand the original poster's intent? To me it sounded like he wanted to be able to use his laptop's screen as a display for the xbox, rather than using a TV.
