How do I play a dvd on my acer Aspire E 15 ?

My acer Aspire has a dvd drive and will play cd's but not dvd's. I have tried changing the settings in the control panel with windows media player , but it does not offer me the option to simply play dvd's. How do I solve the problem? Thankyou.

did you upgrade the os? dvd required app/program to play.
