How do you find/access normal.dot and VBE6.DLL files?

I have Win 8.1 and am using MS Office Pro 2003 and it's been working fine...
whenever I open Word an error box pops up telling me that the Visual Basic environment could not be initialized and provides some help info such as:
"the error could because the normal.dot file is corrupt and/or the VBE6.DLL needs to be updated."
That's all well and good but how do I access them to check, verify, update, etc. etc.? I have 10GB of RAM and 3.2GH uproc.
Because Outlook uses Word as default program, the error also pops up there to sometimes.
Any help would be appreciated and thanks ahead of time!

Normal.dot can be renamed or deleted and will be recreated once you restart Word. It will be in your Office directory on your C:

Do the above first to see if that fixes it.

If still persists, go into Control Panel and remove any Visual Basic items and then reboot. Run Windows Update.

I know Office 2003 isn't supported, just like XP, but they still 'work' in Win 8...I still can't find the normal.dot file and I don't want to remove Visual Basic as that creates another problem in Outlook....sooo, guess I'll still keep looking....

Me thinks if I do that I'll lose a lot of data since that time....I'd like to use that as a very last resort...I reinstalled Visual Basic, so I'll see how long that works, if at all...thanks for the input tho.
