how do you get your phone number on your tablet

I'm trying to sign into my Xbox Live but it keeps sending me to use my phone number

Does your tablet have a phone number? Most don't. If you don't have an account with a carrier/service provider that allows you to use the tablet as a phone, then it won't have a phone number.
