It depends. Depends on the carrier/service provider you go it through.

If you go into the "Settings" of the device and then "Storage" you can see what is using up what amount of space.

Alas, in all honestly though, OSs use up a lot of space on a device. That and the manufacturer installed (non-removable) apps they put on the device. So when you see the advertised space listed, it is including the whole amount, some of which is used by those things and not that you get that much room to use.
