How to attach mp3 file to messenger text android

Need to send some tunes using messenger. I can attach them and play them at my end from the text, but he can't at his end. I am sending from android and he is receiving on an I Pad.

It may be a restriction on his device. He may need a different file type and I know Apple devices are more restrictive on what files they will allow. Your friend may need to put them on a different device to listen to them.
