How to check if I can sell on Ebay

Hello,
I'm long-term Ebay user (more precisely, buyer). I want to sell something so I need to check can my Paypal account accept money. Where and how can I do that?

if you have been buying on ebay using paypal

cant see a reason it wont work for selling/receiving money

get a friend with paypal to send you 1 pence/cents/which ever form of currency you use to see

There was once an option for creating a Paypal Seller Account, but I can't find that anymore. So basically any Paypal account with linked bank card should accept payments?

though i havent sold on ebay for a while

got fed up with people buying my high end pc gear and then saying it didnt work

when it worked perfectly

so a word of warning

while most ebayers are decent honest buyers there are plenty who will try to scam you

paypal nearly always sticks up for the buyer

even if you can prove postage they can send you a totally different for example say a mobile phone back

and nothing you say to paypal will convince them its not the perfectly good working item you sent them

now i only do collection of items and cash on collection

even though it limits the amount of people i can sell to--they see it work they pay the cash

so if you are going to sell anything quite valuable be careful

I wanna sell an used CPU. So what you are saying is that if the buyer claims that the item isn't working (although it does) Ebay will believe them and possibly ruin my Ebay account? Or cause additional costs...

not saying it will happen

like i said plenty buyers are honest

but yes if the person said it doesnt work and sends you their dud one back instead

no way you can prove a thing to paypal they will issue a refund

yes as albalcho says you could test your selling on ebay by selling an item to a friend to see if it all goes ok

though dont do that too often lol

they look for shill buying/selling to boost peoples feed back

another tip for ebay never ever send any thing by post thats not signed for by the buyer

once again they can just say you didnt post it and hey presto they get a refund and the item

but i have had a lot of personal experience with all the underhand methods i mentioned here

though also had many perfectly ok sales

even its if not me getting ripped off it still makes my blood boil

if you are in a high population area cash on collection is definitely some thing to consider

if in the middle of no where then wouldnt have a big enough target market

so would have to take the chance

if they arent too valuable then its worth the chance

the odds of you being the target of a scammer are probably way lower than the odds of you getting an honest buyer any way

though it has to happen to some one

and for pc stuff there is a classified section in these forums

though never used it personally

same thing would apply if i did just use caution and common sense

if it was a brand new forum member i would hesitate

some one who has been here years with lots of posts to their name i would feel reasonably confident it was ok
