hello,
i recently got a home cinema (second hand, the set is quite old) set and hooked it up to my pc through 3.5 audio jack, so it is emulating 5.1 from stereo. i would love to have it in native 5.1 surround, but i don't know how.
mother board: m5a97 evo r2.0
speaker set: philips hts3357

thanks :)

Solution
The HTiB seems to have a coax digital input and the spec on your mobo says that it supports this.

In the audio control panel it should allow you to set one of the audio jacks to output digital audio. You will need a cable with a stereo mini plug on one end and 2 RCA plugs on the other.
One of the RCA plugs will connect to the HTiB.

Solution
Since the amp only has RCA inputs for 2.0 audio, are you sure that its capable of native 5.1 ?

Certainly your motherboard can drive both 5.1 and 7.1 configurations. This should be easy to achieve using Realtek Audio Manager.

how?
