If you don’t like cables, the ability to connect devices wirelessly is useful. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to connect a Galaxy S7 to a PC over Wi-Fi without an app to act as an intermediary. While you can connect a PC and an S7 to the same network, they cannot communicate directly.
However, as always, there’s an app for that. Several of them in fact. There are also quick and easy ways to share files between your phone and PC.
Google Drive and cloud storage
Google kindly provides 15GB of cloud storage for you to use as you see fit. Syncing your phone to Google Drive and saving files to the cloud makes them readily available on your PC when you log into Google Drive from there. It is the fastest and easiest way to share files wirelessly.
You can of course use different cloud storage, but considering Google Drive is built in I see no need to use anything else.
Connect a Galaxy S7 to a PC over Wi-Fi with an app
There are apps out there that can act as the intermediary between an Android device and a PC. Some are free and others paid for. You have apps that are designed specifically for connecting phones to PCs and also file manager apps that can also connect to a PC.
As we don’t name names on Toms Guide, just do a search on Google Play Store for something like ‘Connect Android to PC Wi-Fi’ or words to that effect.
Alternatively, you can use Bluetooth, a wireless media reader or USB-on-the-go if you really don’t like cables.
