I have a nifty lavalier microphone with a 3.5mm mono jack that I would like to use with (1) a wireless receiver that has a 3.5mm stereo input plug and (2) via an XLR extension cable with a short XLR to 3.5mm stereo jack conversion cable.
Do I understand right that if I just plug the 3.5mm mono jack into the 3.5mm stereo plug the audio signal will only be recorded on one of the two stereo channels of the recording device, as the mono jack being in the incorrect alignment with the stereo plug will short circuit one of the stereo channels, resulting in less than optimal recording quality?
If this is the case, what is the best way to solve this problem?
If I understand wrong, please let me know, so I can just continue plugging the mono jack into the stereo plug for recording without fearing that I may be compromising audio quality?
