If it's just a BD disc player (no speakers) then there is no way or purpose of connecting the laptop directly to it. They both just connect to the TV.
If by blue ray player you mean a home theater system with BD player built in then the usual method is to connect the BD system to the HDMI ARC input of the TV(if it has one). Connect the laptop to the another HDMI input. In the TV menu you turn on ARC and select it on the BD system.
You need both the TV and BD system to support ARC for it to work. If one doesn't then you connect the audio output of the TV to the BD system (usually an optical audio cable). You might need a converter depending on the particular TV and BD system.
