How to connect my blu ray to my old hdtv with a cable box & I a hdmi converter cord since tv is rga?

I have a cable box and an old hdtv that are connected with an rga cable since tv doesn't have a hdmi port. I'm trying to connect my blu ray player with a hdmi converter cable to my TV but can't get the movie to show, what am i doing wrong?

RGA cable, do you mean RCA? Or something else? Exactly what connection types does the TV have? Is HDMI the only output on the blu ray player? What converter cable did you get?

An HDMI converter cable (if it is not a powered one) will not work. You need an active HDMI to video converter box.
