How to connect Roku 3 to projector, and surround sound?

Hi, I'm setting up a home cinema and i need a little help. i'm getting a Roku 3, and some surround sound. the roku will be going in to a optoma projector, which doesn't have a hdmi input, just a vga. i will be getting second hand surround sound, and from what i've seen on ebay, most do not have hdmi inputs. so my question is, how do i connect all three of these together?

If the surround sound system you are getting has digital inputs then you would need one of these

in addition to a converter like the one above
If it only has analog audio inputs then you can get an HDMI to VGA converter that has a stereo audio output like this one:
