How to Delete Old Skype Messages

Skype is a full-fledged chat messenger that allows users to make video and voice calls. For future references and to maintain the records, it saves all the text messages that users have typed and received while conversing with their friends or relatives via text.

As per the default Skype configuration, all the text messages are saved within the chat history on the Skype server. Every time you sign-in to your Skype account using your desktop/laptop computer, the chat history can be retrieved on that particular device.

Although keeping the chat history is a good idea if you want to maintain proper records of communication, it might be a reason of privacy breach in case your Skype account is hacked, or you lose the password and somebody else somehow manages to access it.

To avoid such situations, it is important that you keep removing your chat history from the Skype account periodically.

Here’s how you can remove Skype’s past chat history:

■Log on to your computer system.
■Initialize Skype by double-clicking its icon.
■On the opened window, click the appropriate option to log-in either using Microsoft account or by your Skype Name.
