How to download my digital audio tapes and play them over my computer

I have to make some recording for a college class that I'm enrolled in online. I have a digital recorder, but I don't know how to put the recording I made into my computer, so that my professor will be able to hear them.

The most basic way is to connect the recorder to the audio input on your computer via the headphone or line out jack and use Audacity to record it as a wav or flac file.
There are many other programs you could use as well.
