How to earn stardust in Pokemon Go

Stardust is a very important resource in the world of Pokemon Go. This is the main resource you are going to be using, alongside candies, to power your pokemon up. To fully level up a pokemon to the max level, you could need as much as a quarter million of this stuff, so where do you get that much of it you ask? Well, there's three different ways to earn stardust.

Step 1)Capture pokemon.
This is by far the most straightforward way to earn stardust. Each pokemon you catch, even those low level pidgey, will give you 100 stardust each. It's not much, but it sure adds up quickly.

Step 2)Defend gyms
This can be one of the most consistent and rewarding sources of both stardust and pokecoins. For each gym you have a pokemon defending you can collect a reward from the in game shop. Each gym you are helping defend will reward you with 500 stardust and 10 pokecoins, up to a limit of 10 gyms for 5000 stardust and 100 pokecoins. You can collect this reward by tapping on the shield in the top right hand corner of the shop menu, and it will be available every 21 hours.

Step 3)Hatch eggs.
This method is often overlooked, because it only pops up showing you have earned stardust after the pokemon is hatched, rather than right when it happens. It seems to be a pretty random amount that doesn't depend upon the hatched pokemon at all, but you can get over 1000 stardust for just one egg. That includes those two KM eggs you might just be hatching to get them out of your inventory, so get out there and start walking, and your stardust levels will be huge in no time!
