How to extend laptop battery life

MY BACKGROUND: I bought a laptop for school use, and i have a long gap between classes. Im not always able to get to a charging port while at school, i also bought a mobile charger only to find out that it doesn't even full charge it for 100 dollars ( ridiculous, i know). When that battery is low, i set it to power saver and go into my task manager to close all my useless processes, but that gets annoying.

MY QUESTION: Is there an application or program that I can get for my laptop that closes all unnecessary processes for me?

Usually display brightness is the biggest battery drain. Dim your display as much as possible. Change to an SSD to improve battery life.
