Solution hang-the-9 Nov 22, 2010 There is not much "fixing" that can be done, the opening issue is nto too bad, but if you can't read it, new drive time. I don't suggest Dell though as a source, check ebay first.

G Guest Guest Nov 22, 2010 #2 Look up the part name/number and see if you can buy it from Dell or eBay or http/www.impactcomputers.com/dellparts.html It should be easy to unscrew the broken dvd-drive out and put the new one in. Check the service manual or google it. Upvote 0 Downvote
