Solved! How to fix a dvd drive on a laptop

Hello,my dvd drive is not opening on its own, I have to use a pin to open it. Also it does not read any cd/dvd i put in it. Can anyone suggest a solution? Its a Dell Inspiron 1525.

Look up the part name/number and see if you can buy it from Dell or eBay or http/www.impactcomputers.com/dellparts.html

It should be easy to unscrew the broken dvd-drive out and put the new one in. Check the service manual or google it.

There is not much "fixing" that can be done, the opening issue is nto too bad, but if you can't read it, new drive time.

I don't suggest Dell though as a source, check ebay first.
