how to fix a hardware on a Acer laptop 7741Z-4433

When I first turn on my computer it says I need to put the HDD password in and once that's done then it says operating system not found. PXE-E61: Media test failure check cable. What do I do? Someone told me that my hard drive might be toast. How much is a new one?

Thats a bizarre message. Your hard drive might be bad, and a new one varies depending on price between $30 for used small ones to over $500 for better ones.

It might help if you take some pictures, cause I have never seen one ask for a password before it would check the HDD. you could try and see if it will reinstall Windows.
