How to Fix a Logitech g230 audio plug

I have had a lot of instances with my g230 in which the long cord gets snagged on something and I pull on the cord. I think this has lead to my audio plug being broken. It only works when I pull the cord in the opposite direction of the audio plug. If there is any way to fix this please tell.

The only real way to fix it would be to cut the plug off the cable and solder a new one on.
But be warned that this can be a very fiddly job on headphone cables especially if they use lacquered insulation.
