How to fix usb ports when the driver is not working

Hello,
i have an asus k42jk notebook. all its usb ports are not working, one of the drivers did not install because windows stops the installation because of the usb ports hardware failure.

You can't install a driver if the hardware isn't working.

(1) Track down the cause of the USB port failure.

Usually, not all the USB ports are on the same hub. That way if there is a hardware problem you still have some USB ports working.
