Downloaded and installed it.. and... success! Sadly, it's a little flaky for me. Flash can't install for some reason. I guess I'll have to wait for the official re-release schedule next week as this version (reported by Verizon) has bugs - no kidding. Doh! Ah well, very cool way to install the update though.

Just a note, Verizon is saying that if you install an update that isn't from them it will void your warranty.

Alternate plan to get froyo on your Droid...

1) Root phone.

2) Install froyo (btw flash works on rooted versions)

3) Enjoy froyo + Wifi tethering (KMA Verizon!)

Have an HTC desire in the UK (unbranded, unlocked but not rooted) got my OTA update last week. All working fine but no real speed increase and have noticed than when you update the news widget and scroll at the same time it force closes HTC sense.

Apart from that annoying niggle the extra's are worthwhile.

Don't do it. I did it last night, everything went alright till today. I started to notice certain media/streaming aspects are not working properly.. 🙁

I was able to get it install Froyo 2.2 on a HTC G1 (T-Mobile). I was afraid it wouldn't even work but it's running a little bit faster now.
