How to get the closed caption off the tv

i have tried everything to get the closed caption off my tv and it will not come off.
i have hit the cc button i have turned off the tv. im not home at the moment but if you can give me some direction on how that would be nice

Have you checked the remote for the cable/satellite/whatever you use box? Also check the TV menu, could have turned it on in there.
