How to hook my LG tv sound to my onkyo receiver

I have a 60 Lg tv that I'm trying to hook up it's sound to my older onkyo reciever. The tv is equipped with hdmi ports and the reciever isn't.

Hello... You will need a "analog" audio output from the TV to the Reciever input (tape/DVD/CD?) or a Digital optical/co-axial (S/PDIF) connections from the TV to Reciever... Not all modern TV's or certain models have these features... I look for this before considering a TV purchase.

Sometimes Cable Boxes can have these additional features too. B /

My tv has a optical digital audio out port in the back. Do I need a cable fro it to the reciever and if so can you mabey send me a picture of what that cable looks like,please

Hello... There are two different types of S/PDIF co-axial and optical standards... so your TV manual/PDF and receiver manual/PDF to determine the exact spec/std for them first, to see if you have compatible in/out ports... as they can't be mixed matched. B )

Trying to run lg tv sound to external speakers hooked up through a onkyo receiver. The reciever doesn't have hdmi ports but the tv does, any suggestions??

How is the TV audio connected to the receiver now?
I assume the TV has an Optical out? Does the receiver support optical in?
